Born to J.D. (Jake) & Faye Hamby on October 16, 1944 in England, Lorraine came to the United States on the Queen Mary when she was a young child. The family moved many times while she was growing up, before making their home in Baytown, where she has resided for the past 50 years.
Preceded in death by her parents J.D. & Faye Hamby, brothers Butch Hamby and Dennis Hamby. Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 22 years Jerry Mayfield, her daughters Tanya (Spell) Stork and husband Brian, Wendy (Mayfield) Phillips and husband Paul, son Jerrell Mayfield and wife Kari. She was grandma to eleven beautiful grandbabies, Jacob and Briane King, Kaitlyn, Bryce and Jordan Stork, Corey, Josh and Jon Phillips and MacKenzie, Maddison and Meagan Mayfield. Lorraine was also blessed with 3 great grandbabies Korra, Hunter and Jackson Phillips.
Lorraine had a larger than life personality and a great laugh, if you were lucky enough to hear it you never forgot it. Nothing made her happier than caring for those she loved. She had a passion for decorating her home and was a fantastic cook. When you came to her home you knew you were welcome, loved and would never leave hungry. To say that she was a blessing to those who knew her is an understatement. We are so thankful for our time with her and know she will be watching over us from Heaven, just as she did here on Earth.
The family will honor her memory and life with a private memorial service.
