Lawrence “Lonnie” Hurley, 70, of Baytown was born May 29, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN and passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2008 in a Longview hospital. He was raised on a farm in Minnesota and was very dedicated and hard working. He was a truck driver who thoroughly enjoyed his profession and never met a stranger throughout his many miles on the road. In fact, he was known to strike up lengthy conversations with folks whom he had just met.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Hurley and is survived by his wife, Barbara Hurley of Baytown; sons and daughter-in-law, Lawrence Hurley Jr. and Daniel and Pattie Hurley, all of Salt Lake City, UT; daughters, Sandra Hurley and Kimberly Hurley, both of Minnesota; stepsons and their wives, Paul and Pam Thomas of Angleton, Rick and Barbara Thomas of Baytown, and Lincoln and Julie Thomas of Montgomery; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Benjamin H. and Elaine Vircant of Baytown; cousin and her husband, Cookie and Dave Grimsgard of Minnesota; nephew, Robert Barker of Baytown; and 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Thomas, Rick Thomas, Lincoln Thomas, Robert Barker, Stephen Thomas, Ryan Thomas, Lawrence Hurley Jr., and Daniel Hurley.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Paul Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
