

Laverne Palmer Leavins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother has gone to be with Our Lord on February 11, 2024 at the age of 94 years. Laverne was born in Edom, Texas on May 19, 1929 to Omer T. and Sadie Palmer.
Laverne was a dedicated wife and mother. She was also the Food Service Manager for Lee High School. Laverne retired from Goose Creek Consolidated School District after many years of service. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, gardening, family gatherings, boating and reading her Bible daily. Laverne could often be found on her porch watching the hummingbirds with her 4 pm coffee.
Laverne was preceded in death by husband, Ivy Roy Leavins, parents, Omer T. and Sadie Palmer, brothers, Ray Palmer, and Shirley Dale Palmer and sister Mildred Felts. The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Faith Community Hospice and to our nurse Sharon our aide Tammy our social worker Tammy and our minister Paul and to her friend reverend James Darby. Thank you to everyone that touched her life in any capacity she loved all of you and enjoyed the time and care everyone spent with her.
She is survived by sisters, Kathy Coburn, Betty Phillips, and Brenda Compton; brothers, Bobby Palmer and Ronnie Palmer; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Hubert W. McMinn Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, George W and Leona Leavins; grandchildren, Angela and Joseph Sticher, Brandi and Hubert W. McMinn III, Laura And Danny Varela, Abby and Sha Leavins, Kristen and Thomas Mullinnix and Jesse Diller; thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Navarre Funeral Home Chapel, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, Texas 77521. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm, Friday, February 16, 2024, at Navarre Funeral Home Chapel. Committal will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery, Baytown, Texas.
