Lanelle Rodgers Weatherly

Lanelle Rodgers Weatherly, 69, of Baytown was born November 19, 1939 in Liberty, Texas and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, July 25, 2009 in a hospital in Plano, Texas. Lanelle grew up in Highlands and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown in 1957. In 1961 she graduated from North Texas State University and married Rev. Norman Allen Parrish, an Independent Baptist preacher from Leggett, Texas. Lanelle loved the Lord and served him faithfully. She was a gifted pianist and organist, and for the past few years taught piano and served as organist at Victory Baptist Church in Baytown. She delighted in using the flannelgraph to teach Bible truths to children. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and reading.

Lanelle was preceded in death by her parents, Oris E. and Willie Mae (Matthews) Rodgers of Highlands; her husbands, Rev. Norman A. Parrish of Flower Mound and Rev. A. E. Weatherly, pastor of Garth Road Baptist Church, Baytown; her brother, Jimmy Rodgers of Highlands; and her brother-in-law, Robert Wyatt of Baytown. She is survived by her children: Dreina Parrish Scahill of Little Elm; Bethany Boley (and husband Todd) of Rockwall; Priscilla Murphy (and husband Eddie) of Little Elm; Andy Parrish (and wife Lorrie) of Blue Ridge; Nate Parrish (and wife Michelle) of Allen. She is also survived by her sister, Glenda Wyatt, and sister-in-law, Marlene Rodgers, both of Baytown. Also, twelve grandchildren: Marque and Micah Scahill of Little Elm; Nate and Colton Parrish of Blue Ridge; Gwenlyn, Gideon, Garnet, and Gillian Boley of Rockwall; Natalie, Nicole, and Neil Parrish of Allen; and Ethan Murphy of Little Elm.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook, from 6:00 - 8:00 Friday night, July 31. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 11:00 at Victory Baptist Church, 1800 E. Archer, with Pastor Danny Bezet officiating. Burial will be in Leggett, Texas. Donations in honor and memory of Lanelle may be made to Victory Baptist Church.
