Juanita Stewart “Nita” Whitmire, 77, of Baytown, passed away at her home February 15, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Baytown, Texas on July 26, 1928. She was the former owner and operator of Juanita’s Beauty Shop in Pasadena, Texas. She was a member of the South Houston Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Stella Stewart; sister, Barbara Gibson and husband Guy; brother, James R. Stewart; mother-in-law, Carman Jones; and brother-in-law, J. B. Smith.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Gail Mack Whitmire; two sons, Ronnie Whitmire and wife Jana of Clear Lake, Donnie Whitmire of Rosanky; one brother, Jerald D. Stewart and wife Sue of Splendora; four sisters, Margie Smith, Betty Baker, JoAnne Murphy and husband Bernard, Dorothy Compton and husband Billy; sisters-in-law, Maxine Turner and husband J. B., Patsy Newberry, all of Baytown, Dorothy Hartfield of Bryan and Dorothy Ann Carroll of Pasadena; five grandsons, John Whitmire, Kirk Whitmire, Kent Whitmire, Russ Whitmire, and Matt Whitmire; five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral home, officiated by Rev. Billy Joe Tate. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in La Porte.
The family also wishes to extend a special thanks to Lou Collins for caring so lovingly for Juanita. We also want to thank the staff of Odyssey Hospice for all their care in our time of need.
