In his last days he was surrounded by his loved ones that included his wife, 3 sons, 2 daughters, 2 sons-in-law, 2 daughters-in-law, 11 grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and many of their respective family members as well as various friends. He is survived by his wife, Evangelina Benavides who loved, served, and cared for him until his last breath. He is also survived by his children, Zonia A. Charles, Juan Benavides Jr., Nadia M. Gonzalez, Ernesto A. Benavides, Juan Manuel Benavides, Fidencio Charles, Cynthia Benavides, Miguel Gonzalez, Erica Herrera; and his grandchildren Fidencio “Chico” Charles, Zara Charles, Zoey Benavides, Miguel Gonzalez Jr., Yandel Gonzalez, Kimberly Gonzalez, Kalyn Gonzalez, Jacob Gonzalez, Isaiah Herrera, Anahi Benavides, and Bella Benavides. He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Benavides.
Juan Manuel Benavides was born on July 8, 1953 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He was the oldest son of a family of 8, and was married to Evangelina Marroquin on August 23, 1975. He was known for his work ethic, his care and leadership of his whole family, his ability to be the happiest and most alive person in any situation, and his keen business sense, owning and operating Café Mexico, one of the first and longest lasting Mexican restaurants in Baytown. He will be remembered fondly for these reasons and many more.
Visitation will take place between 5 pm – 8 pm on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Rd. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 10 am on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Iglesia Cristo Viene, 400 Cedar Bayou Rd. in Baytown, TX, with a funeral procession to follow.
