Joyce Hendrix was born on Aug. 30, 1930, to Clarence and Essie Cooper in Center, TX. She married Bill Hendrix on May 14, 1948, and passed from this life peacefully on Nov. 8, 2011, at home in Channelview, TX. Joyce was a longtime businesswoman and community leader in the North Channel area. She was a champion of the underdog, queen of the dollar slots and a domino master. She was known for her world renowned holiday dinners and candies. She was one-of-a-kind, truly a colorful character.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hendrix in 1995.
She is survived by her children, Renee’ Golden and husband Douglas, Bill R. Hendrix and wife Connie, Ricky D. Hendrix and wife Sally and Dennis Hendrix; grandchildren, Billy, Allen and Abbey Hendrix, Sheala Hendrix, Greg Hendrix, Vicki, Chad and Kira Golden; great grandson, Jonas Hendrix and future great granddaughter, Sophia Roman.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Earthman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at San Jacinto Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Hendrix, Allen Hendrix, Greg Hendrix, Chad Golden, Junior Cox and Doyle Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonas Hendrix and Sophia Roman.
