

Joe Leatherwood, 94, of Baytown was born July 15, 1920, in Guadalupe, TX and passed away Friday, February 27, 2015, at his home. He owned and operated Joe Leatherwood Exxon Service stations for many years. He was a U. S. Navy WWII veteran and a member of Memorial Baptist Church. He was a member of the Baytown Masonic Lodge #1198 and a very active member of the Baytown Shrine Club where he was a past president.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Olga Leatherwood; brother, Grandville Leatherwood; and daughters, Jolene Leatherwood and Laura Leatherwood. His is survived by his wife of over 73 years, Zerline Leatherwood of Baytown; daughter and son-in-law, Jennie and Larry Rankin of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, James and Linda Leatherwood of Baytown; brother, Ellis Coleman Leatherwood, Jr. of Stafford; grandchildren, Laura Rankin and Jay and Crystal Rankin, all of Houston and Clay Leatherwood and Makenna Leatherwood, both of Baytown; great grandson, Zeke Rankin; nephews, Raymond Leatherwood of Baytown, Dale Leatherwood of Stafford, and George Donnelly of Helena, MT; and nieces, Margaret Ruth Allison of El Paso and Judy Reynolds of Kingwood.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Graveside services will be Monday, March 2, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Guedry Cemetery in Hardin County near Batson with Rev. Randy Piatt and George Donnelly officiating.
