John Taylor Norton passed on March 6, 2024, after a long wonderful life and a long battle with MDS. John was born June 2, 1925 in Chester, Texas to John Eldridge Norton and Jessie Ivy Norton. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown in 1943.
John joined the Army in 1943. He served in the 519th Military Police. His division went ashore in Okinawa April 1, 1945. They left in 1946.
John married Mary Helen Arnold April 1948. John joined his brother Jack at work for Diamond Shamrock for 34 years. After retirement, John and Helen built their dream home in Woodville, Texas, only to return, after 10 years, to Baytown to be with family. Johnny and Helen loved camping, woodworking, ceramics and gardening together. They were married 60 years. They were life-long members of the church of Christ in Baytown and Woodville.
After the Texas big freeze of 2021, John moved into The Lodge at Pine Creek in Baytown where he made many new friends. Helen said he never met a person that he didn’t quickly become friends with.
John is preceded in death by his parents, his younger siblings, Jack Norton, Dorothy Sebesta and Barbara Rachel. He is survived by his brother Jimmy and wife Illeen Norton; children Keith Randall Norton and wife Ofelia, Patrice Norton Molnar and husband Ernie. He is also survived by grandchildren Keith R Norton Jr, Joseph Taylor Norton and wife Kelly, Elliott Reed Molnar and wife Ying, and Katrina Benban. Two great grandchildren Layla and Levi also survive their PaPa. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Monday, March 11, 2024, at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, Texas 77521. Graveside Services and Burial will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Rd., Baytown, Texas 77521.
