James “Jimmy” Leonard Romero, 75, of Baytown, TX, passed away on September 26, 2022. He was born in Port Arthur, TX on November 13, 1946 to the union of Curley Joseph Romero and Margo Katherine “Peggy” Walsh-Romero.
Jimmy attended school in Port Neches-Groves, TX. Following high school graduation, he served in the US Army where he was an expert rifleman, and received a National Defense Service Medal. After his honorable discharge from the military, Jimmy began his career as a Machinist. First working for US Steel, then on to working for Exxon until his retirement.
Jimmy loved having a good time. He enjoyed fishing, grilling out, taking casino trips where he always came out a winner. His passion was the game of golf. Jimmy loved playing and was such a great golfer that he taught several friends how to play. He loved the game so much that his first date with his wife of 43 years, Tina, was to play a round. Whether it was at River Terrace Golf Course, or Chambers County Golf Course where he was a member, he could be found at least 3 days a week on the golf course.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Curley and Peggy Romero; and his two brothers, Allen and Ronnie Romero.
He is survived by his loving wife Tina Romero; his two daughters, Tania Barrientes and her husband Victor, Leslie Buckingham and her husband Jason; three grandsons, Jonathan and Jared Barrientes, and Brandon Maeker; sister, Rachel Willis; niece, Ranalda Schmidt and her husband Mike; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marie and Vernon Williams and Bill and Anna Rose Wilkie. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
A memorial service in honor of Jimmy will be held at Navarre Funeral Home at a later date.
