James "Doc" Newton Hudson

James Doc Newton Hudson, 99 years, of Baytown, passed away July 6th 2020. He was born in Rosebud, Texas on November 6th 1920 to Jim and Elizabeth Hudson. He was married to Mary for 34 years, and Allene 2nd wife for 35 years.

Doc worked for Exxon as a pipefitter and also played baseball when it was Humble Oil as a left-handed pitcher. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church and had a passion for God, family, sports, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his son, Jimmy and wife Cynthia, daughter Carolyn Toups and daughter-in-law Glenda and husband Danny Moyers and son-in-law Larry Armer and his wife Diane. He is survived by his grandchildren, Angela Hudson, Robin Wright and husband Corey, Kristi Drake, Mindy Smith and husband Shannon, Lindsey Carpenter and husband Clint, James “Jamie” Hudson and wife Sarjina, Julie Toups, Kim Quinters, Joe Quinters, Jessica Alvarez and Kelly Montez and husband Sef, Jamie and Kelly King. Great-grand kids are Bret Drake, Tatum Wright, Austin and Baylor Carpenter, Ashton Smith, Hazel and Nova Hudson, Cierra Quinters, Tobias and Mykayla Alvarez, Aryana, Tyler and Kassandra Montez, Joe and Mina Quinters and Kale and Kolin King. Also two sisters, Margaret Vanderford and Lucille Farber and many nieces and nephews. He had 2 wonderful caretakers who became like family, Betty Christten (who recently passed away) and Karina Carreno.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and one sister, son Bobby, first wife and mother of his children, Mary and second wife, Allene, daughters Daltrice Armer and Denise Quinters, great-grandson Brylan Butler and son-in-law Randy Toups.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 5-8 pm at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 9, 2020 in the chapel of Navarre Funeral Home. Graveside Service and interment will take place on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 11:00 am in Powers Chapel Cemetery, Rosebud, TX.
