James C. Elliott

James C. “Jimmy” Elliott, 75, of Baytown, TX was born December 15, 1929 in Cedar Bayou and passed away Sunday, September 25, 2005 in Nacogdoches. He attended Barbers Hill and Cedar Bayou schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. On September 5, 1950 he married the love of his life, Bonita Ruth Kelly.

Jimmy worked for Union Carbide and retired from Lubrizol Corporation in 1985. He had been a member of Cedar Bayou United Methodist Church since 1955. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was good with his hands. He built boats, his own home, and an airplane.

Jimmy was the grandson of the pioneer Pelly family. His parents were Sailus Daw Elliott and Charlotte Isabell Pelly Elliott. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Carrol D. Elliott and Jack Elliott and is survived by his wife, Bonita Kelly Elliott; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Rex Adams, Charlotte Scott, and Janice and Phillip Zimmerman; sister, Pansy Lawrence; brother and sister-in-law, Rex Leo and Martha Elliott; grandchildren, Adam Scott, Lauren Adams, Kristen Adams, and Jennifer Beard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Going, Johnnie Dutton, David Pickering, Rex Elliott, Allan Elliott, and Kenneth Smith. Delroy Mulkey will be an honorary pallbearer.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 1, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Leroy Stevens and Rev. Tommy Lyles officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
