A beloved patriarch and friend, James Edward Dubois, Sr., received his reward on April 3, 2022. During his life he was an avid hunter and enjoyed trips to the lake for fishing and family time. You could also find him “striking the pins” weekly at the local bowling alley. A hard worker, he devoted forty years to a career at Poly One Plastics before retiring to care for his ill wife. Diligently, he read his Bible and spoiled his dog while awaiting the day God would reunite him and his beautiful bride of forty-seven years, Elizabeth Dubois, whom he often reminisced over.
Born on August 19, 1942 , in Crowley, Louisiana, “Jimmy” as his dear friends knew him, moved to Texas around the age of 26. He and Betsy settled in Baytown and raised a devoted daughter, Regina Lynn Dubois Vestal, and supportive son, James E. Dubois, Jr., in the Baytown vicinity. They remain in the area with their spouses Johnnie Vestal III and Becky Dubois.
Preceding him in death are his parents Alcee and Ada Sonnier, and three brothers Wilfred, Wilbert and Alan Sonnier. Surviving him are his sister, Eva Jane Regan, affectionately known as “Jeannie,” residing in Jennings, Louisiana, with her family; and brother, Alec Sonnier , of San Antonio, Texas.
“Paw Paw” is also dearly loved and treasured by a gaggle of granddaughters - Ashley Dubois, Jamie Harrott, Stephanie Cooper (deceased), Lacey Newton, Amanda Love, and Brittanie Dubois, who will cherish sweet memories made over a lifetime of love. He even had the pleasure of experiencing thirteen great grandchildren and a great, great grandchild.
Our profound loss is heaven’s great gain. May the fond memories we recall comfort our hearts until our paths cross once again.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, TX 77521. Funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm, at Palms Memorial Park, 2421 TX Hwy 146, Dayton, TX 77536.
