Herb Hampton was my German teacher for two years at Lee and was by far one of my absolute favorites. I could always look forward to a good laugh in his class as he had a great sense of humor.

I'm not sure why this stuck with me, but I remember that he absolutely could not stand Lord of the Flies and hated it whenever his English classes had to read it!

I ran into him at Discount Tire about 5 or 6 years ago and he told me that he was happily retired. I will miss him.

I had Mr. Hampton for one semester of English and I'll never forget what a character he was. He had a broken leg (or arm?) at the time and we were all surprised to learn it was from motocross. I remember distinctly his German, love for motorcross, fishing, and talking about his smoked brisket. Prayers to his family, may they find comfort in knowing Mr. Hampton lives as fond memory for many of his students' over the years.

My husband Randy Smesny fished with Herb in the 90's in a bass club. Herb was a wonderful man and will be missed dearly.  Our Condolences and prayers for the family.

I worked with Herb in the Foreign Language Dept for many years.   He loved a good lunch.  Herb knew what was important.

I had Herb "The Superb" Hampton as my German teacher.  I truly miss him and his whitty humor in class. I never got to tell him that I got to live in Germany for 3 years. He is truly a unforgettable man.  Mr. Hampton, thank you, thank you very much.

Coach Hampton was my basketball coach at Lee HS from 1994-1997. I truly enjoyed playing for him. He made our team work hard, but you knew behind that stoic face, he loved his job. We shared tons of laughs! He nicknamed me Daisy and would never share his strawberry jolly ranchers!  Rest in Peace Coach. You will be missed.

We had the pleasure of having Herb and his family as next door neighbors for many years.  Great Man, Great Father, and of course Great Neighbor!  Herb set the bar very high.  He loved the outdoors, and involved his kids in everything: sports, fishing, motocross, etc.  He passed that love to his Sons.  So sorry he has passed away, but he is in a better place.  He will be missed...

Coach Hamp was my absolute favorite teacher at Lee, but he was so much more than that. I was lucky enough to have him all 4 years of high school. He made it a point to let me know how much potential he saw in me. He inspired me at an impressionable age to be the best I can and I am forever grateful for him and all the advice he gave me. That and his sense of humor was the best. You will be missed.

Herb was such a wonderful History teacher. I never enjoyed learning about it, until he was my 8th grade teacher at Cedar Bayou. I always remember him loving jolly rancher candy & he will be missed. It was a pleasure being his student and friend. R.I.P., Mr. Hampton. ❤

I had the honor of teaching with Herb at R.E.L. He was always gracious and had a love for what he did. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke it was worth the listening. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Herbert "lived", was "raised" and "grew up" In Central Heights... right across the street from the Heberts. Throughout the years we had some great times. Once he married, he moved back to the house he grew up in and our children had the privilege of growing up with his family. He had a great personality and was always fun to hang out with. I know that those who know and love him will truly miss him. Condolences and prayers to Brian and Steve from the Hebert family on W Humble Street in Central Heights!!!

Coach Hampton was a person I admired. He knew how to push when you needed to be pushed and inspire you when need a boost. He always had the best sayings. I use them on my kids today. You will be missed. My prayers are with your family.

I was privelaged to have known him. He was a geat coach. My prayers go out to his family.

Herbert was my ride or die when we were teenagers he Wil be greatly missed.

Some of my best memories were camping with Herb, and learning to like oysters!
