She was born in Camilla, Texas on August 29, 1930 to Obie and Bertha Jordan. After graduating from Baylor University where she met her husband of 55 years, Herbert Zimmerman, Helen began work as a school teacher in Goose Creek CISD, and retired 33 years later. She taught Home Economics at Horace Mann Jr High for 10 years and Kindergarten at Carver Jones for 23 years.
Helen was a member of Memorial Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher in the 5 year old class for 50 years, and later moved to the Adult 7 class.
Helen had a passion for gardening and growing beautiful flowers in her yard. She enjoyed sewing and quilting for her grandchildren and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Elliott Jordan; and her husband Herbert Zimmerman.
Andrew and Cheryl Zimmerman, Ruth Zimmerman and Kristi Mathews; grandchildren, Raymond and Tara Priddy, Robyn Priddy, AJ Reyna, Sarah and Cameron Nielsen, Rebekah and Matt Barr, and Samuel Zimmerman, James Hall and Samantha Hall; great grandchildren Dylan Murphy, Zoey and Tate Priddy, Logan, Nathan and Benjamin Nielsen, Elliott Barr and Liam Hall; special friend, Maria Thompson.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 9:30 am at Memorial Baptist Church 600 W. Sterling, Baytown, TX 77520, with funeral service to begin at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Cedarcrest Cemetery, Baytown, TX.
