Gilbert Calvin ""Jack"" Sartor, 88, of Baytown, TX was born May 13, 1926, in Teague, TX and passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, in a local hospital. He retired in 1982 from Humble Oil and Refining Company as a Machinist Planner with over 36 years of service and was a longtime member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church. He enjoyed toying around with machinery and was an avid gardener who always kept a large vegetable garden. He loved the outdoors and camping but most of all he was a good dad who loved and enjoyed his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Emma Sartor; brother, Billy Tom Sartor; wife of 59 years, Doris Dena Daley Sartor; and grandson, Cory Sartor. He is survived by his sons, David Sartor and wife Susan of Baytown and Daniel Kevin Sartor and wife, Tina of Dayton; daughter, Diane Sartor Saunders and husband, Jack, of Baytown; brother and sisters-in-law, Terry and Barbara Sartor of Teague and Yvonne Sartor of Baytown; grandchildren, Lauri Saunders Martin and husband Chris of Anahuac, Christopher David Sartor and wife, Nicole of Franklin, KY, Ryan Matthew Saunders and wife, Nina of Baytown, Brooke Elise Saunders and fiancée Chip Oliphant of Highlands, Kaylee Deanne Sartor of Austin, Rachel Parish of Austin, Katy Parish of Detroit, MI, and Kyle Parish of Herriman, UT; and great grandchildren, Krysta Watson, Jason Martin, Sebastian Saunders, Griffin Saunders, Olivia Sartor, Anna Lynn Sartor, Avery Sartor, Jayce Sparks, and Tristin Gregory.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 5, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Dr. Mark E. Broussard officiating. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Saunders, Christopher Sartor, Brian Barger, Tim Sartor, Jack Saunders, Patrick Sartor, Kyle Parish, and Rusty Sartor. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Sartor, Jim Barger, Gilbert Lara, Jerry Nichols, and Horace Strickland.
