Fred Burns, 80, of Baytown, TX was born October 14, 1925 in Lufkin and passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 in a local hospital. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of the Carpenters Union, Local #1334. He enjoyed bluegrass music and attending bluegrass music festivals.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 17, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Pastor John Satherly officiating. Burial will follow at Gann Cemetery near Lufkin at 2:30 p.m.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miller and Ethel Burns, daughter, Callie Sue Burns Smith, and brother, Jim Burns. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wilma Burns of Baytown; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Bill Berry of Livingston, Kay and Ronnie LaFour of Highlands, Tina Gigout of Mont Belvieu, Toni and Burl McBride of Baytown, and Kim and James Harper of Crosby; sons and daughter-in-law, Tyson Burns of Crosby and Brent and Brenda Burns of Dayton; grandchildren, Shane, Mark, and Vance Berry, Dustin Smith, Beau and Chance LaFour, Ashley Halford Dunlap, Kaylie Gigout, Byron, Brad, and Blake McBride, Tommy and Jerad Jett, Aaron Harper, Chad Cauthen, and Shelden Burns; 11 great grandchildren; and nephews, Corky and Blue Burns.
