Frankie Duncan Smith, 84, of Baytown, Texas, passed away April 12, 2023. She was born in North Zulch, Texas in Montgomery County on October 18,1938 to Frank and Minnie Dean. She was married to Les Lee Duncan for 43 years.
Frankie grew up and graduated high school in Huntsville, Texas where she met her life partner Les Lee Duncan while working as one of his carhops at Les' Huntsville Cafe. They moved to Baytown in 1958 with their infant daughter Terri. Frankie owned and operated several small businesses while living in Baytown. Frankie and Les owned and operated an appliance repair company for many years. They also owned a lawn mower repair business. Later, Frankie owned a boutique (SassyFras) on Morrell Street. Frankie was a member of Church on the Rock and volunteered as a secretary for a number of years. Frankie had a passion and love for God, her family, her church, and reading the Bible. Frankie loved her cat, Annabelle, who was her companion for many years. Frankie (Nanny) was known for making homemade chicken and dumplings that everyone loved, especially her grandkids. A special thank you from the family goes out to Pastor Tommy Meekins, Mac and Sharon Graves, and Jackie Farmer for watching over Frankie and helping her to maintain her independence as long as possible. Frankie was a very independent and witty woman who always put others before herself. She had a good sense of humor, always ready to tell a new joke. Frankie will be missed by all and left a legacy of showing her love and faith in God for all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by: husband Les Lee Duncan, parents Frank and Minnie Dean, sister Joyce (JoJo) Thompson, sister Jackie Samson, and brother BoBo Dean. She is also survived by: daughter and son in law Terri and David Choate, grandson Dustin Meadows, granddaughter Kylee Choate, all from Dayton, Texas; grandson and wife Kody and Rachel Choate, great grandson Oliver Choate from Cypress, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
