

Frances Helen (Buchta) Kolarik, 94, of Highlands, Texas, formerly a long-time resident of Channelview, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Eastgate, Texas on July 26, 1918.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vince and Anna Buchta, husband of fifty-five years, Henry Kolarik, daughter, Judy Kolarik, and all of her siblings. She is survived by sons, Larry Kolarik and wife, Candy, of Houston and Hank Kolarik and wife, Rosie, of DeRidder, Louisiana, and daughters, Anita Svoboda and husband, Charles, of Arp, Carolyn Stasney and husband, Ron, of Highlands, and Kay Shroyer and husband, Stan, of Baytown; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Matilda Buchta; and numerous nephews, nieces, and special friends.
Mrs. Kolarik was a long-time parishioner of both St. Jude Thaddeus and St. Andrew Catholic Churches. She was a member of the St. Jude Thaddeus Alter Society, St. Andrew Catholic Daughters, and Double Nickel Club. Mrs. Kolarik was blessed with a green thumb that enabled her to grow countless plants and host the plant booth at the St. Andrew Bazaar for many years. She was best known for her delicious blackberry wine, kolaches, and strudels. In her later years she enjoyed traveling, but she found the most joy in being with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Kolarik expressed a wish that donations be made to The Fatima Center or a charity of your choice.
