Emma Rangel, 86, of Rosenberg, Texas, formerly of Baytown, was born in San Juan, Texas on September 7, 1918, sharing the same birthday with her oldest son Robert Frank Rangel and went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 30, 2005, the birthday of her oldest daughter, Minerva Rachel Harkins. She was a member of Coady Baptist Church, and the main focus of her life was worshipping God. She loved her husband of 55 years and together they reared their five children. She was well versed on current events in addition to enjoying reading, writing poetry, sewing and cooking.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with worship in song at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 4, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Candido Gonzales, her son-in-law, officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands, Texas
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Flores, John Flores, Erik Jakstadt, Albert Guerrero, Jack Brady, and Inosencio Cantu`.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francisco (Frank) Rangel, whom she married in the Texas Capital Rotunda in Austin Texas on May 18, 1934, and is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Bobby) Frank and Beth Rangel of Garland and George David and Diane Rangel of Sugar Land; daughters and sons-in-law, Minerva Rachel and Phil Harkins of Houston, Gloria and Rev. Candido Gonzales of Van Vleck, and Rebecca and Bill Wood of Baytown; sister, Angelita Salinas of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Nancy Elizabeth Rangel, Tiffany Nicole Rangel, Kara and Paul McNeely, Jacqueline and Albert Guerrero, Kim Van Buren, Carla and Erik Jakstadt, Mark and Jeanette Flores, and John and Marcela Flores; and great grandchildren, Laura and Kristen Jakstadt, Caroline and Julie Guerrero, Evan Van Buren, Jessica Flores, Alison Irish, Katie Davis, Jonna, Mica, and Anna Flores.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the care givers at Fort Bend Healthcare Center, Oak Bend Hospital, and to the Reverend Dr. Frank Hawkins of American Hospice for sharing the word of God for the last time with our Mom in her earthly body.
