Elmer, the first generation son of Hungarian immigrants grew up in West Virginia. After losing his parents he joined the Army Air Corps. Staff Sergeant Takach ran the PX in San Diego during the Korean War. After leaving the service, he worked at the Appalachian Power Company where he noticed the boss’s daughter, Nancy. Although fearful of asking the boss’s daughter out, he pursued a relationship which lead to 64 years of marriage. Their relationship was built on hard work, faith, and family.
Elmer then attended West Virginia University on a GI Bill obtaining his BS degree in Electrical Engineering in 1959. He worked in that field until the age of 83. Elmer was a faithful member of Maranatha Church for many years. He was a very talented man and could take anything and make it work. He was awarded numerous US Patents throughout his career.
He leaves behind wife, Nancy of Baytown; son, Bill Takach and Elene of Liberty, son, John Takach and Lisa of Houston, son Stephen Takach and Holly of Baytown, and daughter, Mindy Eustes and Steve of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Elizabeth Takach, Dr. Timothy Takach, Benjamin Takach and Marlene, Dana Martin and Chris, Dr. Caitlin Coco and Patrick, Rachel Morini and Kyle, Jared Takach, Sean Eustes, Christopher Eustes, Morgan Takach, Kamden Takach, and Rebecka Takach; his first great-grandchild, Pierre Coco; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Delores Takach of Lindale, and a sister Olga Pashkevich of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and John Takach; brothers, Arnold Takach, Alfred Takach, and John Takach.
A celebration of life will be held at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX 77521, Wednesday, December 12, 2018, with visitation to begin at 1:00 p.m., and a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Cedarcrest Cemetery at a later date.
