Eleanor was born to Ruby Scogin Colbert and Henry Williams Colbert in Monroe, Louisiana. She was their fifth child. All of her brothers and sisters have predeceased her. Eleanor graduated from Neville High School in Monroe and was very proud to have attended her 70th high school reunion. After completing high school, Eleanor went on to attend and graduate from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she was a member of Tri Delta sorority. She met James William Stewart (Jimmy) while at college, and they married following their graduation.
In 1940, Jimmy and Eleanor moved to Baytown, Texas where Jimmy took a job at the Humble Oil refinery as an engineer. The first home they owned was on Utah Street. Their two boys, Bill and Henry, were born while they lived there. In 1958, they moved to Eleanor's dream home in Lakewood. Jimmy designed the house, and she lived in this house until her passing.
Eleanor loved her family and her friends. She was a committed member of the Baytown Service League and continued to be involved in service projects throughout her life. She also had great passion and love for her church. She spent much of her time on church related projects. Eleanor was a very nice, considerate and poised lady and will be missed by many.
Ellie (as many in the family called her) is survived by her two boys, Bill and Henry. She is survived by three grandchildren, Elizabeth Anderson, James Stewart, and John Stewart, and three great grand children (David, Finn, and Henry Anderson) - all of whom know her as ""Arnie"". Eleanor was also the step-grandmother of Laura Oehler and Shari May.
