Ed Moak, 81, of Baytown was born October 10, 1931 in Baytown and passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 in a local healthcare facility. He was a graduate of Baylor University with graduate degrees from Southern Theological Seminary, Indiana University, and Sam Houston State University. He had a career in education and retired from Lee College as the Dean of Student Services/Registrar for 18 years. He was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church where he taught Bible classes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Mae Moak; brothers and sister-in-law, Robert Kenneth ""Smokey"" and Carolyn McMaster Moak and Tom Moak; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary Louise and J. A. Portis.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Beth Moak of Baytown; son and daughter-in-law, John and Michelle Moak of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Chet Theiss and Kristen and Simon Lovett, all of Baytown; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Henry Clay ""Buddy"" Jr. and Betty Moore and Gayle Knight Moak; grandchildren, Trace Theiss, Adam Christian, Clay Theiss, Britainy, Ashley, Julia, and Kate Lovett, and Evan, Hannah, and Kingston Moak; and many special nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends at the Memorial Baptist Church Chapel, 600 W. Sterling, Baytown, TX 77520 Friday, May 3, 2013 beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating.
In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Memorial Baptist Church Mission offerings or the Renovation fund.
