E. W. Walters, 74, of Baytown, TX, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather was born July 19, 1931 in Goose Creek and passed away with his family by his side in a Houston hospital Tuesday, May 23, 2006. He was a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church and Retired from Occidental Chemical in Deer Park in 1989 with 35 years of service. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, having served on the Horace A. Bass, APD124 during the Korean conflict. He served as President and Vice President of Kountry Lone Stars East, affiliated with the camping organization, Kountry Klub International.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, May 26, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Broussard and Dr. E. Richard Steel officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with military rites.
Serving as pallbearers will be Emmett Turman, Joshua Turman, Richard Waldman, Stephen Davis, Leland Collins, Laruis “Red” Weathers, Richard Case, and Sam Chechourka. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Queen, Andrew Queen, Tyson Queen, Kyle Queen, Charlie Schoppa, Kevin Ladd, and Sid Stafford.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Mark Walters, daughter, Kelley Ann Walters, father, Elmer Walters, mother and stepfather, Annie and J. E. Brooks, brother, James Walters, and sister, Oleta Harwood. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 54 years, Karol A. Walters of Baytown; daughters and son-in-law, Karol Lynn and Stuart Waldman of Baytown, Khristine Harris of Bayou Vista, and Kathy Davis of Baytown; sister and brother-in-law, Laverne and Hal Ladd of Hardin; grandchildren, Richard Waldman of Houston, and Kelli and Glenn Malone, Emmett Turman, Joshua and Jessica Turman, and Stephen Davis, all of Baytown; great grandson, Jonas Turman of Baytown; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.
