In 1947 their love story began! Our dad walked into a Highlands, Texas Café and saw the girl of his dreams. When he asked her out on a date he found her more than a handful! Dorothy said, “I have to let you know I have a mighty long waiting list and I will put you at the bottom of it”. Oscar said, “Well I’ll let you know I don’t ask them twice”. He quickly left with the door slamming behind him! His next visit to the café was to ask her out again. They had over 50 wonderful years together, 49 married until his heavenly departure. Dorothy’s first biscuits could break the wall if thrown at it, dad said but soon she became an amazing cook of fried chicken, shrimp gumbo, cheeseburgers, pear fried pies and kolaches, donuts, bread, gravy, BISCUITS and everything in between. She was an amazing women with a love for her family and even had a second chance at love with her longtime companion Russell Glover later in life. She enjoyed dancing, roller skating, baton twirling she passed to her daughters and granddaughter, flowers and gardening. She was a wonderful homemaker, landlord, wife and mother.
