Donald M. Huron, 74, of Baytown was born May 17, 1935 in Indian Bayou, LA and passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009 in Baytown. He was a 1954 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and retired from Houston Natural Gas with 21 years of service and was a member of the emergency response team at Bayer, where he retired again with 21 years of service. He was a 55 year member of the DeMolays and a member of Cedar Bayou Masonic Lodge #321 and Baytown Shrine Club, where he was a past president and a member of the cooking club. He was also a member of the Master Mason York Rite and Arabia Temple. He was a member of the Baytown Boat Club and the Life is Good Cooking Team.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E. C. and Florene Huron; wife of 44 years, Ann Huron; sister, Edwina Welch; brothers, Jack and Doyle Huron; and nephew, Grady Huron. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Donald R. and Terry Huron of Baytown; daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda Dianne and Tim Smith of Highlands and Jo Marguerite and Dan McGrew of Baytown; grandchildren, Timothy Lynn Smith II, Lee Ann Michelle Smith, Kyle Edward Huron, Kayla Michelle McGrew, Kandice LaNea McGrew and Dori Wintill and husband Tim; great grandchildren, Leah and Mark Wintill; and a very special person in his life, Joy Greenawalt of Baytown.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sib Hewitt, Chris Runnels, Tim Smith, Tim Wintill, Timmy Smith, Rich Sobray and Dan McGrew. Honorary pallbearer will be Kyle Huron.
In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Arabia Shrine Hospital Benefit, c/o Arabia Shrine Center, P. O. Box 20625, Houston, TX 77225-0625.
His family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Pam Medellin and Dr. Luis Fraga and their staffs and the staffs of San Jacinto Methodist Hospital and Faith Community Hospice.
