Cynthia was born April 3, 1958 in Elizabeth New Jersey to parents Walter and Sylvia Lesnowich. Born with a hole in her heart Cynthia was one of the first children to have open heart surgery at age of 7. If she survived the surgery it wasn't known how long her life would be. Against all odds she grew up to graduate from Kean University in 1980 with her B.A. in Special Education and Early Childhood Education. After moving to Baytown, TX in 1985, she enjoyed her lifestyle as a mother, a devote Catholic, and truly found her passion for teaching.
Cynthia's devotion to her Catholic Faith began in her early years at Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church in Linden New Jersey. Throughout her adulthood she attended many Churches around the world. Most recently known for attending Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church in Baytown, Texas.
Cynthia, known as Cindy by her friends, went by many other names; her personal favorites include "Mom, Grandma, and Mom-mom." She loved attending events for her family and was so excited when they would join her at Mass. She loved cooking and having her family together for dinner every night. Cynthia took her role as a mother very seriously, always striving to be the best she could be. Anyone would agree she far surpassed her own expectations.
If she wasn't at church or home with her children, Cynthia could be found teaching somewhere. Starting in the late 80's she taught one class a week at Lee College, shortly to become a private school teacher. Even after her retirement from Saint Joseph's in 2018, she continued to substitute, and teach her college class online. Curriculum wasn't all Cindy taught; she taught Faith, Love, Patience, Forgiveness, and the importance of keeping your hands off the walls. If you had a question, she knew the answer. If you needed guidance she would guide you. If you needed anything, you called Cynthia.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents; Walter and Sylvia Lesnowich, and various aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
Cynthia is survived by her children; Bryan D. Barny Jr. and ex-wife Racheal L. Barny, Stephen M. Barny, Melissa A. Padgett and husband Stephen L. Padgett, and Christopher P. Barny.
