Carolyn Sue ""Ma"" McBride of Baytown, TX passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at the age of 79 years, 2 months, and 22 days. She was an only child born on January 10, 1936, to Lawrence Rhea Strauch and Ellen Josephine Shepherd in Cedar Bayou, TX. She was in the last graduating class of Cedar Bayou High School in 1954. She married the love of her life V.H. ""Buddy"" McBride Jr. on June 5, 1954. She worked for GCCISD Food Service Department for 20 years, from 1971-1991. She enjoyed traveling with the Lee College Travel Program for over 20 years, where she was a long time member of the Senior Adult and Travel Advisory Board. She was also a charter member of the Red Hat Society and a charter member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a faithful member of Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, V H ""Buddy"" McBride Jr., parents, and sister-in-law, Jean Cansler. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Burl & Toni McBride of Cove; daughters & sons-in-law, Rhea & Leslie Smith of Dayton, Erma & Jay Cornelius of Dayton, and Kris & Tony Dahlquist Sr. of Highlands; grandchildren, Byron & Krystal McBride, Brad McBride & Amber, Blake McBride & Kathryn, Leigh Ann Smith, Murray Smith & Brandi, Kristen & Chad Odom, Mason Cornelius, J-Lynne & Jason Hill, Jason & Candice McKee, Ellen & Josh Clark, Emily & Justin McWhorter, Kerrie & Rick Larkin, and Tony & Kriste Dahlquist Jr.; 20 Great Grandchildren and 2 nephews; her very special friend, Gene Lenamond; and her furry companion Mossy.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church, 2714 Ferry Rd., Baytown, Texas 77520, with Rev. John Newsome officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons-in-law.
