Brenda Atkins Havard, 60, of Baytown, went to be with her adoring Creator and family who preceded her in death Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at her residence. She will be remembered with fondness by her family and friends for her kindness and compassion towards all who knew her. She was also known for her captivating smile and contagious laughter. Her love and warmth have been easily known by those she held dear. She had selflessly and tirelessly seen to the tender care of her mother, Melba Davis Atkins.
She was born October 15, 1946 in Baytown to her parents, Joseph Atkins and Melba Davis Atkins. Brenda lived in Baytown her entire life, was a 1965 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, a longtime member of the Trinity Tabernacle Assembly of God Church and worked as a nursing assistant.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Navarre Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 16, 2007 at the Trinity Tabernacle Assembly of God Church in Baytown with Rev. Larry Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery in Baytown.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Eric Epperson, David Hartley, Brian Atkins, Sabin Norton, Josh Winter, Sand Norton, Daniel Atkins and Rudy Hartley.
She is survived by her sons, Eric Epperson and Fiancé Heaven Morris, Darran Epperson, Elliott Epperson and David Hartley; mother, Melba Atkins; sister, Nonie Norton; grandchildren, Sara, Leona, Olivia, Joseph, Kacy, Brandon, Katie, Brendan, Justin, Kel, Hayley and Jessica; aunts, Joy Bell Davis and Katherine Oliver; cousins, Betty Haltom, Shirley Holzaepfel and Marie Byrd; and numerous more relatives and friends.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Joe Atkins; brothers, Bobby Joe Atkins, Dalton Atkins and J. D. “Jerry” Atkins; and aunt, Agnes Young.
Her family would like to send out a special thanks to Odyssey Health Care for their loving care and devotion. Her sons also express their deepest affection and appreciation to their “Aunt Nonie” (Leona Norton) for her love and support in their time of need.
