Bonnie Ruth Pruitt

She attended the Ater School and Gatesville High School.

She moved to Waco, intent on attending Nursing school, but decided to attend beauty school instead. It was a decision she never regretted.

In 1942, she went to work at the Liberty Building in Waco. There she worked until 1966 when she moved her shop to the Regis/St. Elizabeth Retirement Hotel in Waco. She enjoyed making the elderly ladies there feel special by making their hair look well groomed.

Ruth enjoyed making people look good so much that when she had 2 operations in 1981 she quickly returned to work. She worked at the Regis until her retirement in 1987. In that year she decided to work part time, which she did for one year finally retiring in 1988. It is estimated that she groomed nearly 100, 000 heads of hair during her career.

Soon after retirement she temporarily moved to Houston to care for a newborn niece that required constant care.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Isaak & Lola Pruitt. She is survived by her sister, Ruella Morgan of Baytown; brother, Marsh Pruitt and his wife, Florence of LaMarque; nieces, Barbara McCormick and husband, Jim of Baytown, Jackie Cornish and husband, Richard of LaMarque, Mickie Ferrell and husband, Mike of East Bernard and nephew, Charles Morgan and wife, Kathy of Clearlake.

A memorial service for Ruth will be held at the Cornerstone Church in Gatesville, TX on Saturday, August 2nd at 11:00 a.m.

In Lieu of flowers the family would like donations in Ruth's name to the charity of your choice.

The family welcomes old friends and family to come and celebrate Ruth's life with us. She was a cherished member of our family and will be missed.
