Bonnie Maye Fuller Holsomback, age 68, passed from this life into the presence of her Lord and Savior on May 27, 2017. She was born in Camden, Texas on November 4, 1948 to Grady Eugene Fuller and Laura Aladee White Fuller.
Bonnie was one of the strongest, most determined women you would ever have met, and her grace, poise, and ever so slight mischievousness would endear her to you forever.
She ran free, climbing trees on her family's East Texas cattle ranch. She drove tractors and fed cattle, but always hated chicken snakes. She twirled as a Drum Major and played the saxophone in her high school band.
She pursued her dreams of higher education finishing her nursing degree at Herman Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was a Registered Nurse working in the surgical ward when she met a clean-shaven surgery resident with thick-rimmed glasses. On their first date they saw You're a Good Man Charlie Brown and they never stopped dating. On July 14, 1973 they married and raised two daughters in Baytown.
Bonnie worked as a nurse in hospitals, doctor's offices, schools, and camps. She volunteered in her faith communities, surviving many years in VBS as well as leading puppet ministries and mission education. She loved flowers and spent her life coaxing roses to grown in Baytown's soil. She was an extremely proud Nana and was active in her grandson's life, especially enabling his artistic flare.
Bonnie is survived by: her spouse, Dr. Thomas N. Holsomback; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Jake Zelman and Rev. Suzanne Holsomback and Dr. Lee Harper; her grandson, Colter Zelman; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews.
Visitation will be at Navarre Funeral Home (2444 Rollingbrook Dr, Baytown, TX 77522) on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 5-7pm. The funeral will be at Navarre on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 10am, followed by a graveside service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Maydelle, Texas at 4pm. Rev. Chuck Schneider will preside at the funeral, John Chappell will speak at the graveside and Jake Zelman, Lee Harper, Carol Horton, Hunt Holsomback, Lee Holsomback, and Bruce Jordan will be pall bearers.
A special appreciation to the nurses, doctors, medical professionals, and caregivers that supported her, cared for her, and gave her hope and life. In addition, a heart-felt thank you to Annette Harrington, Connie and John Chappell, Maria and Elias Osegueda, and Carol Horton for their steadfast friendship for so many years.
The family requests that memorials be made to ministries at Sagemont Church, 11300 S Sam Houston Pkwy E, Houston, TX 77089.
