Bonnie Joyce (Priester) Cook, aged 80, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023 in Houston, Texas. Affectionately known as BonBonnie, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Bonnie was born on October 28, 1942 in Nacogdoches TX, to Dewis and Florence (Lewis) Priester. As a young adult, she would move to Houston where she built a life and remained a proud Houstonian for over 60 years. This is where she started her professional career with Southwestern Bell/AT&T, Bonnie quickly rose through the ranks and became a senior manager. Throughout her career, Bonnie was known for her leadership, hard work, dedication, and passion for learning as she mastered increasingly complex technical and managerial skills. After taking early retirement in her late forties, she enjoyed traveling, adventures with her grandchildren, her beloved beach house, gardening, dancing, music, and the Astros.
To her friends and family, Bonnie was known for her generosity, her fun and adventurous nature, her stubborn audacity, and making you feel welcomed and loved.
More than anything, Bonnie was a loving, devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren (and their friends), great-grandchildren, attending their performances and events, sharing stories, playing cards, taking them to movies and Astros games, and feeding them sweets. She was always there to offer love, guidance, support, and encouragement no matter what challenges they faced.
Bonnie is survived by her loving daughter, Monica Cook Wells and son-in-law Ken Wells of Houston, TX; grandson Jaron Ashby Smith and wife Megan Smith of Stafford, VA; granddaughter Isa Brie Broussard and partner Lauren Baker of Portland, OR; step-granddaughter Elizabeth Davis and family of Houston, TX; great grandchildren Inali Miko Smith and Elodie Akari Smith; loved like a daughter Teri Corbett Swint and husband Mark of Mont Belvieu, TX; numerous beloved cousins, nephews, and friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
