Billy Ray Sowders

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Marie McDonough Sowders, his parents William and Bessie Sowders. Billy was also preceded in death by his six siblings. Faye Stock, Hazel Clemmons, Imogene Griffin, John Earl Sowders. L.W. Sowders and Jack Sowders, Sr., and son in law, Jim Raley.

Left to mourn his passing, are his children and their spouses, Vickie Sowders Raley, Charlene Sowders Kyle and husband Tim, Dennis Ray Sowders and wife Laura. Seven grandchildren Denise Neiderhofer and husband David, Chad Davis and wife Terrie, Jan Marie Bird and husband Fred, Wesley Kyle, Melissa Sowders and partner Elizabeth, Lindsey Massey and husband Justin, Amber Tankink and husband Tony.

Thirteen great grandchildren, Tanner Alsip and wife Jennifer, Kaile Neiderhofer, Kaitlyn Alsip, Alex Neiderhofer, Clayton King, Courtney King, Lexie Hill, Cade Hill, Jordan Smith, Chloe Tankink, Abby Tankink, Bret Underwood and Andrew Davis, Madison Kyle, and Brittnee Kyle, and one great great grandson T.J. Alsip.

Billy will be missed by so many. He was a magnificent father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and uncle. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Billy retired form Ashland Chemical and Brown & Root. After retirement he enjoyed working with his cousins at Jackson & Jackson Construction.

Billy was an active member of Garth Road Baptist Church. He loved all the little children and they loved him. He was always quick to volunteer to help anyway he could. He was a very blessed and loving man, and we will truly miss him until we see him again!

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 10:00 am, officiated by Pastor Jim Lamb, at Earthman Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Rd. Baytown TX. 77521.
