Billie Joe Edwards

Billie Joe Edwards, 88, of Baytown was born November 16, 1929, in Cedar Bayou and passed away Monday, July 9, 2018, at her home. She attended Robert E. Lee High School and retired from Kmart. She was a very active 67 year member of Memorial Baptist Church where she taught the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday school class. Billie loved her family and was a giver, always putting others first.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elmira George; sister, Evelyn Opryshek; and son-in-law, Willard Derrick. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Rudolph “Rudy” Edwards; daughters and son-in-law, Dysena “Dee” and Buck Leavins and Peggy Derrick; son and daughter-in-law, Rudolph, Jr. and Diana Edwards; sister, Pauline Plocheck; grandchildren and their spouses, Dane Davis, Sonja Oakley-Brown and Darryl Brown, Buck, Jr. and Shanna Leavins, Mary and Cal Start, Rachel Cooke, Dysana and Jason Lee, Stephanie and Gene Starling, and Samantha and Nicholas Medrano; and great grandchildren, Jarrod, Kasey, Marcus, Ross, Linzi, Callie, Corbin, Bella, Cierra, and soon to arrive, Mia.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday, July 11, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 12, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating. A private burial will follow at San Jacinto Memorial park in Houston.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ross Leavins, Marcus Oakley, Kasey Oakley, Nicholas Medrano, Gene Starling, and Buck Leavins, Jr.
