Betty Ann Thain

Betty Ann Heard Thain, 87 of Baytown, Texas passed away on February 10, 2025 in Baytown, Texas. She was born in Goose Creek, Texas on May 8, 1937 to Dupree Kile and Artie Bell Heard. Betty Ann married her high school sweetheart, and love of her life, Rex Laroy Thain, Sr. on June 2, 1956.

Betty Ann was a dedicated military wife who graciously took on the responsibilities of their three boys as Rex served his country. Together they served international assignments in Okinawa, Japan and Hanau, Germany along with many domestic moves.

Betty Ann was a lifelong and active member of Central Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas where she served in WMU on many levels. She and Rex enjoyed traveling with The Baytown Gadabouts RV club and helping build churches.

Betty Ann is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Rex Laroy Thain, her brother DK Heard and sisters, Bonnie Evelyn Heard and Hattie Joyce Heard. She is survived by her children, Rex Jr. and Sherry Thain of Omaha, Texas; William (Buster) and Debbie Thain of Baytown, Texas; and Donald and Nancy Thain of Comfort, Texas. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and her sister Doris Thompson of Houston, Texas and sister-in-law Dorothy Foster of Baytown, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 am, Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Navarre Funeral Home Chapel, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, Texas 77521. Funeral service will begin at 11 am, officiated by Beau Rosser. Committal will follow at 12:30 pm, at Sterling White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, Texas 77562, with Betty Ann’s grandsons as pallbearers.

The family expresses gratitude to Ascend Hospice Care and to the Angels Over Us caregivers for their love and care during Betty Ann’s final months.
