She was born in Huntington, Texas on January 28, 1930, to James Boliver Ivy and Jeffie Mae Nerrin.
She was a resident of Baytown for over 70 years and was a devoted homemaker and employed by Citizens National Bank and Trust Company as a teller for approximately 20 years. Her varied interests were too numerous to name but she enjoyed reading, singing, boating, water skiing, bowling, gardening, cooking, crocheting, needlepointing, sewing and was an avid Houston Astros fan. She also enjoyed serving others and volunteering in the community.
She was devoted to her church, Second Baytown, sang in the senior choir for many years, taught Sunday School and more recently became a member of Hillside Church, Mont Belvieu.
She loved spending time with family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was affectionately known as Nana by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She celebrated the milestone of 75 years of marriage to her husband in 2021. She had a love for life, was a woman of faith, and was a beautiful reflection of Jesus. Her legacy will be carried on in the hearts of her family and she will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, JP Short, her parents, brothers Laurin Ivy, Edmund Ivy, GW Ivy, sister, Bobbie Jean Sanders, and great granddaughter Kate Van Wagner.
Betty is survived by her sister Margie Ruth Magill, her son Randy Short (and wife Kathy); her daughter Vicki Fuller (and husband Glen); her grandchildren Daystar Van Wagner (and husband Jason); Solomon Short (and wife Rachel); Christan Reilly (and husband Matt); Jeremy Fuller (and wife Cindy), and Travis Fuller; her great grandchildren, Ethan and Ella Van Wagner, Selah and Levi Short, Rowan Reilly, Starling, Roman, Addison, Braun, and Trent Fuller. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX 77521, on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, funeral service will follow at 11:00 am.
Interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Baytown, Texas.
