Betty Jean Clark Copeland of Wallisville, Texas passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at the age of 81. Betty Jean was born on June 11, 1932 in Devers, Texas to Corbett and Lora Clark. She married Walter Copeland March 7, 1947, becoming a full time wife and soon mother of six. Later she worked as a paper carrier and in the mailroom for The Baytown Sun. She and Walter retired in 1990 and moved to Maydelle, Texas where they raised cattle, watermelons and were famous for their ""pea patch.""
Betty Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years, Walter; brother, James ""Sammy"" Clark; and sister, Helen Allen. She is survived by her sons, Walter Ray and wife Joselynn of Baytown, W. C. and wife Laine of Mont Belvieu, and James and wife Sharon of Mont Belvieu; daughters, Gracie Gilbert and husband Lon of Wallisville, Debra Hutto and husband Richard of Baytown, and Cindy Thompson and husband Chuck of Wallisville; sisters, Jeannette Burrell of Devers, Doris Garner and husband Freddie of Baytown, and Peggy Clark of Devers; brother, Norman ""Doc"" Clark and wife Billie of Devers; and sister-in-law, Ruby Clark of Devers. She has been blessed with 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive friends on Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown, Texas. Services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, December 6, 2013, at Navarre Funeral Home with Dr. E. Richard Steel officiating. Graveside services will follow at Fabriguez Cemetery in Devers, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Zumwalt, Billy Roush, David McMullan, Justin Ponder, Alan Norris, and Zachary Thompson.
