Barbara graduated from El Campo High School and attended the University of Houston, where she received both her BBA and Masters Degree in Elementary Education. She continued to focus on the importance of education and went on to enjoy a fulfilling career as a school teacher in the Galena Park School District and the Goose Creek Independent School District for over 20 years, specializing in the teaching of remedial reading to elementary and junior high school students. She attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Baytown and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crosby.
As a mother and grandmother, she was an inspiration. She also devoted much of her life to raising her children and grandchildren. She was a pillar of strength, always there with her love, support, and understanding. Her kindness and generosity will be remembered by all those she touched. She will also be remembered by her family and friends for her love of her Yorkshire Terrier puppies, who were her constant companions, and how she so dearly cherished her time at the beach house in Galveston.
She is preceded in death by her parents, step father, Gilmer Collins, mother, Marjorie Collins, father-in-law and mother-in-law L. F. Lippman & Cecile Lippman. She is survived by son & daughter-in-law, Kyle & Janna Lippman of Houston, daughter, Karen Robinson of Baytown, brothers, Robert Laughlin of Alvin and Jimmy Laughlin and wife Barbara of Alvin, grandchildren, Jordan, & Keaton Lippman, Ash, Nolan, & Nathan Robinson.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, 10:00 am at Navarre Chapel with Fr. Fred O’Connor officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 pm at Navarre Funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Calvin Mundinger, Charles Conder, Gary Hanson, Ash Robinson, Nolan Robinson, and Nathan Robinson.
Immediately following graveside services (approximately 1:00 p.m.), there will be a reception for family and friends in the Pine Lake Room, Lakeside Country Club, 100 Wilcrest Drive, Houston, Texas.
In lieu of usual remembrances, and for those who so desire, memorial donations may be made in the name of Barbara J. Lippman to The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy/Texas, P.O. Box 492, Houston, Texas 77279.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s Hospital for their tireless efforts, constant care and thoughtfulness during her brief illness.
