Born in La Porte, Texas December 14, 1943 to Roy H. And Amelia Gonzales, Sr. Amelia known by “Millie” to her friends, “Sista” to her family and “Meme” to everyone else, was a retired homemaker and caregiver to so many. She was employed by Goose Creek ISD Food Service as a baker. She loved her job and putting smiles on people’s faces with the special treats she made them.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who always put her needs a side for her family. She will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Gilbert Contreras, parents Roy H. and Amelia Gonzales Sr. and siblings Rufus Gonzales, Wallace Gonzales, Martha Contreras, and Delores Gonzales.
She is survived by daughters, Karen Contreras and husband Stewart Allen, Laura Contreras-Rust and husband Dale, and sons, Mark Contreras, Craig Contreras and wife, Melissa. Grandchildren Lindsey Duff, Ashley DeHoyos, Christofer, Joshua, Kayla, Morgan, Bryce, and Madison Contreras. Great-Grandson Toby Gilbert Tullis. Brothers Roy Gonzales, Jr. and wife Debbie, Joe Gonzales and wife Brenda, Charles Gonzales, John Gonzales and wife Shelia. Sisters Rachel Torres and husband Ruben, Mickey Connell and husband Herschell, and Kay Hutchings. Sisters-in-Law Teresa Gonzales, and Gloria Torres and husband Mike. Brothers-in-Law John Contreras, Richard Contreras, Joesph Contreras and wife Diana. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
Serving as Pallbearers are David Birdsley, Roger Contreras, Kevin Gonzales, Bobby Contreras, Mike Wooster, Walter Gonzales, Stevan Torres and Augustine Contreras.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the family through Wells Fargo Bank.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Earthman Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, TX 77521.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wedneday, June 15, 2011, at Earthman Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Whites Cemetery in Highlands, TX.
