She was born on June 1, 1924, to Rufus N. and Amelia (Krenick) Jacobs. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and Lee College. Education was an important aspect in her life and she was proud of the fact that she graduated from high school at the age of 15 and college at the age of 17.
After her children were of school age, she worked as a church secretary to the music and youth minister at Memorial Baptist Church. Later she was a secretary in the Technology Department at Lee College. This is a position that she retired from many years later.
Alice's greatest love was for her Lord and her family. She was an active member of church, school, and social organizations including the Pilot Club of Baytown. She was also known to be a good bridge player.
Her husband Sam B. Kimmey, preceded her in death on March 8, 1992.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law, R.B. and Catherine Jacobs, brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Patricia Jacobs, sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Russell Colburn, and grandson Kelley L. Kimmey.
She is survived by her son Randy Kimmey and wife Debbie of Baytown; son Gary Kimmey and wife Sandra of Houston; grandchildren Courtney Hollywood and husband Matthew of Baytown; Ashley Kimmey of Pearland; great grandchildren Mason and Miranda Hollywood of Baytown. Alice is also survived by her sister Betty Harrison and brother-in-law Curtis Harrison of Baytown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and treasured friends.
The family expressed its sincere appreciation to the staff of SEV Home Care, Inc., especially Felina Lane, Lora Glass, Elma Weaver, and Wendy Pierce for their exceptional and loving care.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 600 West Sterling, Baytown, Texas, 77520, as a memorial to Alice.
Her family will receive friends at Memorial Baptist Church, 600 West Sterling, Baytown TX 77520 Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. and followed by funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Randy Piatt officiating. Entombment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of the Chimes Mausoleum in Memory Garden Cemetery, Baytown TX.
