Albert Neel ""Boots"" Nelson, 83, of Mont Belvieu passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his home. He was born January 18, 1931, in Liberty Texas to Albert and Oleta Nelson. He graduated from Cedar Bayou High School and was attending Texas A & M when he left to serve in the U. S Air Force. He was a member of Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church, Cedar Bayou Masonic Lodge #321, the Scottish Rite Consistory in Houston, the Arabia Shrine Temple, and the Baytown Shrine Club. He was a retired rancher and farmer and served on the Chambers County Hospital Board, San Jacinto Methodist Hospital Board, Chambers County Improvement Committee, Barbers Hill School Board, Trinity Bay Soil and Conservation Board, Citizens Bank Board, and was the President of the Chambers County Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Eva Yvonne Nelson. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patsy Williams Nelson; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Gary Janacek and Connie and Denny Dunivent; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Sandi Nelson and Al and Colleen Nelson; grandchildren and their spouses, Britney and Bobby Stevens, Trish Mogonye, Amanda and Derrick Schriewer, Devin Dunivent, Kim and Stephen Short, Courtney and Justin Muir, Ray and Sydni Nelson, Neel Nelson, and Macy Nelson; great grandchildren, Rayann Stevens, Hayden Mogonye, Cole Ackerman, Jaxon Mogonye, Reidland Stevens, Robey Stevens, Hudson Short, and Kennedy Nelson; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lynn and Charlene Enderli and Norine Robins; and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, April 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church, 2714 Ferry Rd., Baytown, TX 77520 with Rev. John Newsome and Rev. Roddy Bland officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Cedar Bayou Masonic Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gordon Speer, Jaime Harvey, Glen Jennings, Rex Boyd, Greg Glover, R. D. Burnside, Ricky Wolf, Joey Masterson, and Andrew Lannie.
