Aiko Okada Smalley

Aiko Okada Smalley, 74, of Baytown, TX passed away Friday, December 15, 2006 in a Baytown hospital. She was born November 28, 1932 in Tsushima, Japan. She married the love of her life, Harold Smalley on November 15, 1951 in Japan. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Many spoke of her as “the sweetest little lady.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kiichi and Hiro Okada, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Smalley and husband of 54 years, Harold Smalley. Surviving sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Darlene Smalley, Eddie and Jill Smalley, Mike and Jana Smalley; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Sam Thurgood; grandchildren and spouses, Ashlea and David Foster, Derrick and Stacy Smalley, Clayton Smalley, Travis Thurgood, Nicole Thurgood, Trace Thurgood, Candace Smalley, Brittany Smalley, Jacy and Grant Cooper, and Kady Smalley; great grandchildren, Karsyn Foster, Cooper Smalley, Cutter Smalley, and Coleman Smalley; sister-in-law, June Smalley; niece, Gloria Gibbons; nephew and wife, Dewayne and Terri Smalley; great niece, Laci Gibbons; and great nephew, Kenneth Smalley.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, December 22, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Tommy Lyles officiating. Burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery with her late husband.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Foster, Derrick Smalley, Clayton Smalley, Travis Thurgood, Dewayne Smalley, and Kenneth Smalley. Honorary pallbearers will be Trace Thurgood and Leighton Davis.
