Zilphia "Zip" Braud Fontenot

"Zilphia "Zip" Braud Fontenot passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the age of 87. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed making puzzles and playing cards. She was a native of Cornerview, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. She is survived by her daughters Carolyn Himel and husband Chris of St. Amant, LA, Cherlyn Cannon of Alvin, TX, Linda Long and husband Michael of Denham Springs, LA, Brenda Schexnayder and husband Marc of Katy, TX, and son Arthur J. Fontenot, III and wife Amy of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren Lionel Gauthier, Barbara Ellis, Terry Long (wife Elizabeth), Matthew Schexnayder, Emily Gilbert (husband Nathan), Sarah Fontenot and Amanda Fontenot; great-grandchildren Abbie Gauthier,  Lionel Gauthier, Jr., Anna and James Long, Zoe and Eli Schexnayder, and Ben Gilbert; great-great grandchild Bradley; and one brother Neelis Braud and wife Bernice. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur J. Fontenot, Jr., son in law Chuck Cannon, parents Emile and Hazel Braud, sisters Alvern Carbo, Robbie Kornrumpf, Lois Herbez, brothers Shelton Braud and Leon Braud. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd., Greenwell Springs, LA on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 9:30AM until 11AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM. Interment to follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
