Woodie Nicholas Braud

Woodie Nicholas Braud, Jr. passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy, courageous battle with Lymphoma. Woodie was born on February 12, 1935, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Catholic High School, Louisiana State University and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Woodie was a long-time employee of the Baton Rouge Water Company retiring in 2000 and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 4030. Visitation at St. George Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am celebrated by Rev. Michael Schatzle. Entombment will follow in St. George Mausoleum. Woodie spent much of his childhood visiting Solitude Plantation in St. Francisville, Louisiana, with his parents. Solitude remained a special place to him and he re-built his parents' camp after their passing. He and his wife, Norma, enjoyed the camp, affectionately named "The Dusty Hut" for several years after its re-build. Woodie was preceded in death by parents Woodie Nicholas Braud, Sr. and Addie Bourgeois Braud. Woodie is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Norma Arboneaux Braud, three sons, Kevin and wife, Faith of Meridian, Mississippi, Kerry of Fort Worth, Texas, Kristopher and wife, Pennie of Baton Rouge; grandchildren Jennifer Braud of New Orleans, Jason Braud and wife Caitlin of Meridian, Mississippi, and Kristen Braud Wilcox and husband Adam of Baton Rouge; three great-grandchildren, Paige McKenna Braud, Ian Paul Wilcox and Eli Henry Wilcox; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Brenda Arboneaux Waggenspack and Wame Waggenspack, Sr. of Baton Rouge and numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mary Stringfellow, Dr. Judd Patten and Dr. Robert Fields and all of his caretakers at Mary Bird Perkins and The Infusion Center who took such good care of our "Pops" throughout his illness. Also, thanks to all of the people who prayed for him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
