Bill Simmons died August 10, 2023, of natural causes at home in Lafayette, LA, following medical issues. Bill was born in Baton Rouge on April 25, 1947. He is survived by sisters Bryan Simmons Post (Raymond) and Suzanne Simmons Homan and their children. Bill was preceded in death by parents Dr. William McHugh Simmons and Phoebe Bryan Simmons, and sister Laurie Simmons Plaisance. He graduated from Baton Rouge High, attended LSU, and ran track at both. Bill worked in sales, and was known to many by his friendly attitude. He moved to Lafayette as a young adult where he quickly gained many social friends, and was well known as an excellent dancer as he fit right into the "party" scenes of the Cajun culture. There will be a grave side service at Magnolia Cemetery on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that memorial donations be made to non-profit organizations of the donor's choice.
