W.J. "Bill" Mattox was born on August 14, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Baton Rouge, graduating from Baton Rouge High in 1953, and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at LSU. After college he served honorably in the US Army where he was selected for assignment in the US Army Security Agency. Following military service he was employed by Honeywell International, in Annopolis, MD, where he started raising a family with the former Roberta Williams. In 1974 he returned to Louisiana with his three children, Cynthia Lee, Sharon Anne, and William Judson Mattox III, to start his own design and fabrication business, Tetracor Inc. (later known as Inkontrol, Inc). Shortly after his return, he married his former high school classmate Judith McMillan Blakewood, becoming a generous and loving stepfather to her four children, Eldred Griffin IV, Tara Elizabeth, April Erin, and Derek Kirby Blakewood. He also returned to the church of his youth, becoming a Deacon and Chairman of Trustees at First Baptist Church Baton Rouge, teaching the Eastland Bible Class for men for the next several decades, as well as volunteering his time to improve the lives of less fortunate members of the downtown community. Bill Battox will also be remembered for the high quality of his work and his exemplary work ethic. He shipped his last project on Friday, January 4, and died peacefully in his sleep Sunday morning, January 7, from a recurrence of the leukemia which had temporarily slowed him down two years before. He was a good man who did good work and died with his boots on, he will be missed by the many who loved him and were touched by the Spirit of Christ which was his guiding light. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, La, Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 5pm until 8pm and will resume on Friday, January 11, 2013 at First Baptist Church, 529 Convention St, Baton Rouge, La, from 9am until religious service at 10am. Interment will follow at the Louisiana National Cemetery,
