Warren Joseph Mayeux, Jr. was born in Alexandria, LA on May 9, 1946, to Warren Joseph Mayeux, Sr. and Genevieve Couvillion Mayeux, the first-born of seven sons. He passed into his Heavenly home on August 25, 2022, one day after his 54th wedding anniversary to his beloved wife, Janis Jennings Mayeux. Warren adored his two children, son Philip Warren Mayeux and wife, Erin Mayeux, daughter Betsy (Elizabeth Mayeux DeBenedetto) and her husband Jeff DeBenedetto. His love and pride rested in his two grandsons, "His favorite grandson named Cole Mayeux" and "His favorite grandson named Tony DeBenedetto"! Warren was a graduate of Broadmoor High School and LSU. He spent many years in business with his father at Davis Wholesale Drugs as Executive Vice President. Warren then did what he always wanted to do, own his own business as the President of The Mayeux Group, L.L.C., providing insurance coverages and comfort for so many folks. In life there are people who just stand out and are always remembered for special qualities. Warren was such a man. He will be remembered for his quiet wit and wisdom. Warren loved people, his work, his family and above all, Warren loved the Lord. He had the heart of a true servant. He loved golf and his golf group, reading, book study friends, Bible Study friends, LSU football, the BUMC ushers and their lunches, the Thursday lunch group, the Sunday brunchers, popcorn, sharing good food and good conversation. Warren loved walking in his neighborhood and meeting and visiting neighbors. He was a very active member of Broadmoor UMC and served faithfully. He was a 3rd grade Sunday School teacher, served on Finance Committees, Administrative Boards, Youth Counselor, Men of Broadmoor, Seekers S.S. Class and served as church officer in the capacity of Treasurer under six consecutive Senior Ministers. He loved his home church and was a true disciple of Christ. Warren was active in the Baton Rouge community as well. He was on the Board of the B.R. Jaycees, president of Mid-City Kiwanis Club, member of Red Stick Kiwanis Club, and numerous insurance organizations. He especially enjoyed his work with SCORE in an advisory capacity to young entrepreneurs. Warren was preceded in Heaven by his parents and one brother, Glenn Mayeux of Texas, his parents-in law, and treasured sisters-in law and brothers-in law. Surviving Warren are his wife, Janis, son Philip and family of Pecan Plantation, Texas and daughter Betsy and family of Baton Rouge. He leaves behind brother and wives, Brad and Michelle Mayeux of Baton Rouge, Doug Mayeux and Ingrid Maadsen of Edmond, Oklahoma, David and Evelyn Mayeux of Baton Rouge, Armand and Kim Mayeux of Ft. Worth, Texas and Steve and Joy Mayeux of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by sister-in law and husband Bunny and Bob DeGraff of Baton Rouge, Molly Ducote of Gonzales, Virginia Gavin of Rison, Arkansas, and Arie Vance of Corinth, Mississippi. Numerous nieces and nephew will always remember Uncle Warren. A host of precious friends will always remember with love a great man, a good man, a man of respect and fun. Warren was a blessing. Services will be held Saturday, September 3rd at Broadmoor United Methodist Church with Rev. Donnie Wilkinson, Rev. Russ Clunan and Rev. Tim Lawson officiating with visitations beginning at 9:30am until services at 11:00am. A reception will follow at the church for everyone immediately after the service. Honorary Pallbearers are Jeff DeBenedetto, Tony DeBenedetto, Cole Mayeux, Ollie Ainsworth, Bob Smith, James Pelton, Fred Kimball, and the BUMC Ushers: Greg Beck, Cris Villarreal, Bob Cook, George Carpenter, Ron Atwood, Jack Kyle, Rufus Nwogu, Robbie Shadion, Don Hogan and David Lewes. Special Thanks to the staff of Thomas Hospital and the staff of The Grand Hotel in Fairhope, Alabama. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Warren to Broadmoor United Methodist Church; the American Heart Association or FEAT (Families of Effective Autism Treatment), Houston Chapter.
