Hervey Wallace Eversberg died September 15, 2023 at the age of 89 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born to Hervey Lenert Eversberg and Martha Virginia Wallace Eversberg October 28, 1933 in Brenham, Texas. His parents were residents of Baton Rouge, but he was born during the depression, so they took advantage of free medical care from his uncle in Brenham. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Phillip Amsler Eversberg. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cam McAndrew Eversberg, his children Andrew Wallace Eversberg (Suzanne Brown) and Martha Wren Eagleton (Dr. Bernard) and grandchildren, Anna Camille, Benjamin, and Elliott Eagleton and Andrew Sheppard Eversberg. Wallace was a 1951 graduate of BRHS and earned a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1955. He was a very proud Aggie and a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Ross Volunteers. After spending 2 years in the Army in El Paso where he taught the maintenance of the Nike Hercules Missile, he returned to Baton Rouge and earned a Masters in Petroleum Engineering from LSU in 1958. He then went to work for Humble (Exxon). After spending several years in small towns around LA with Humble, he decided the oil business was not his calling, so he resigned to go into the hog raising business with his friend Russell Kleinpeter. In 1966, his father died leaving a photofinishing business with no management, so he left the farming adventure and took over the reins of Capital Photo Supply for several years until he could sell it. His friend from Kiwanis Club, Jack Gill, recruited him into the insurance business in 1969. He had a 53 year career as a general agent, serving as President of the Baton Rouge Association of Life Underwriters and being named Man of the Year with the organization in 1979. He earned degrees in the insurance field of Certified Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant and was a member of the Million Dollar Roundtable. Along the way, the versatile Mr. Eversberg began buying rental property –some of it with his friend, WL Wilson. He owned and managed properties around LSU, Spanishtown and Midcity until selling them all and retiring in 2017. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, the Baton Rouge Country Club, and the Baton Rouge Assembly. During his working years he was on the boards of the Campfire Girls and the local chapter of Boy Scouts, and served as president of Community Concert, and the Knife and Fork Club. He served as Cubmaster of Pack 7 and was a member of the Rotary Club. Visitation will be at St. Aloysius Church on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 12p to 1:30p followed by the funeral at 1:30p with a reception to follow in the parish hall. The family is exceptionally grateful to Angelle LeMieux for her loving care of Wallace over the past three years. Hospice Nurse, Suzie Boudinot, also did a wonderful job.
