“I have fought the good fight: I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 Virgil J. Brady departed this world on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the age of 84. He was born on May 5, 1933 to Henry and Arrelia Brady in Lecompte, LA. As a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Virgil was a veteran of the Korean War and graduate of LSU with a bachelor degree in accounting. His career in the tax field spanned over 50 years including time with The LA Department of Revenue and later with The Ashland Group. Virgil kept his love of God, love of family, and love of fellow man as his daily agenda until the very end. Close behind those things were his love of local sports of all kinds as he could often be found rooting for LSU, Redemptorist, and St. Gerard Majella. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Theresa. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Christine; son Brian; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Lan; and daughter Karen, as well as his four grandchildren: Kyle, Kavanaugh, Matthew, and Megan. He also has numerous nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws whom he also loved. Also noted are his lasting friendships with colleagues as well as respect and thanks to his fellow neighbors. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, May 15 at 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 9:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial begins at 10:00 AM at St. Gerard Majella Church. The family would like to thank the comfort and care of the Skilled Nursing area of St. Clare Manor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Gerard Majella Church or The Baton Rouge Food Bank.
