Viona Joyce B. Matthews

Joyce Matthews, a devoted wife, mother, "Maw Maw", and friend passed away peacefully at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge on Sunday, February 09, 2014 at the age of 72. She was a native of Ida, Louisiana, a resident of Central, and retiree of Turner Industries. Survived by three sons, Robbie Matthews, Jr. and wife Robin, Mike Matthews, Sr., and Jeff Matthews and wife Christy; a step-daughter, Susan McAllister; six grandchildren, Justin Matthews, Ilissa Matthews, Grant Mitchell, Megan Matthews, Mike Matthews, Jr., and Dylan Matthews; two great-grandchildren Carsyn Rain Matthews and Brooklyn Lane Ott; brother, Jimmy Busby, Sr., and two nephews John Busby, Jr., and Shannon Busby. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Matthews, Sr., and parents George Lee Busby and Eva Leana Adcock Busby. Pallbearers will be Justin Matthews, Grant Mitchell, Mike Matthews, Dylan Matthews, Gary Matthews, and Jessie Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be John Busby, Jr., and Scott Garreston. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, on Monday, February 10, 2014 from 5pm to 9pm. Visiting continues at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 10am till service time at 12pm. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
